Newer Brands Reimagining Classic Snus

Since classic snus is so traditional, it made sense to cover the originals first. But there are also plenty of newer brands on the market that are introducing their own twists.

• The Lab snus. This is a brand that was made explicitly to reimagine traditional snus. It was launched in 2009 by snus giant Swedish Match, but it launched The Lab as part of a mission to experiment and create the next iteration of flavors.
• The Moose snus. This brand is even more modern, launched in 2023, and it has taken an innovative approach with its flavors. The Moose names its classic profiles after cities, with West Coast featuring juniper notes while Gotland is a smoky option with juniper.
• XR snus. This is another Swedish Match creation, and the collection is formulated to showcase old-time brands like General in a more modern form, plus a few brand-new creations. These include flavors that push the boundaries for classic taste profiles, using the likes of peach and apples.

How Strong is Classic Snus?

Given that classic snus is all about dark, robust tobacco notes, it’s only natural to assume that these would also be the strongest. In reality, that isn’t the case, with ultra strong snus being a relatively new innovation compared to the classics found here.
